about

MUNDO MANIJA, the second studio album by Azabache Tango, is an album of original instrumental music that seeks to reflect current society in Buenos Aires and relate the spirit of anxiety, euphoria and social inequality that is experienced in this moment after the global pandemic.
The songs open a range from extremely contrapuntal instrumental work to sound textures of great weight and density, passing through several popular musical genres from the local music culture such as tango, candombe, murga, cumbia and rock. The first song on the album is a recital by Martín Pitu Frontera, renowned lyricist of new tango.
The interest in expanding the possibilities of the string quartet is a premise of the group. In several of the songs electronic effects are incorporated, in addition to the acoustic effects.
In terms of visual work, the album features the collaboration of national photographer Marcos López in direct contrast to the art of Vendo.mi.ego, a well known argentine street artist.
